Gunpowder Birth

Williamsburg Magazine as seen in this photo is an original 18th century building in the city of Williamsburg, Virginia, one of America’s colonial capitols.

Built in 1715 to store the arms and ammunition, this building was the stage for part of the fight for American Independence. In April 1775, the Royal Governor ordered the arsenal emptied, an event which sparked anger amongst the colonists.

This became known as the Gunpowder Incident.
